Bagge in Portland OR, June 27th - 28th

It'll be an event-clogged weekend in PDX for me this upcoming weekend, all revolving around a 2 day, all-day teaching seminar I'll be holding at the Portland Northwest College of Art on Sat, June 28th and San. June 29th (Jessica Abel, Matt Madden and Daniel Dufford will be teaching courses there all this week as well: http://www.pnca.edu/exposure/news/405/intensely-graphic

I also will be signing copies of the APOCALYPSE NERD book collection at Powell's bookstore on Friday the 27th at 7:30 PM: http://www.powells.com/biblio/9781135869878

On Saturday the 28th at 5pm, I'm scheduled to take part in an "Interactive discussion with comic creators" at the Someday Lounge, though no mention of it is made on their website (http://www.somedaylounge.com/) so attend at your own risk!

Right after that, from 7 - 9 pm, the nearby Floating World comic shop will be holding a "closing" party for a group art show featuring work by JR Williams, Mats?!, David Chelsea and myself (we'll all be in attendance except for Mats?!). Floating World's website appears to be down at the moment, but you can get all the info you need from their MySpace Page: http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=79938577&blogID=404973306

    New T-Shirts, Skateboards from Manik

Seattle based skateboard and apparel company Manik has just released a series of 5 skateboard and 3 t shirt designs by me, culled from images from the earliest issues of HATE comics. Am I stuck in 1993 or what?!?

Right now the only images I can show you of them are these tiny, fuzzy images, since Manik is currently working on the Store section of their website. But write to info@manikskateboards.com in the meantime and ask for a free catalog.

The latest installment in the increasingly eccentric life of Buddy "The Crazy Guy Who Works at the Dump" Bradley involves a war over scrap metal, of all things, when Buddy's old pal and business partner Jay takes over the auto junk yard next door to Buddy's place in an attempt to capitalize on the rising value of used steel. Watch what happens when these two former collector geeks butt heads over a filthy, noisy, heavy yet priceless commodity! Also in this issue: The final chapter (which works as a stand-alone story) of Bagge's "Bat Boy" run in the Weekly World News, and Lovey once again gets involved with a Man of Mystery whose "mystery" is of questionable taste! And as always, there are other odds and ends that round out this one-man anthology.

Fantagraphics has just released a brand new, single volume collection of the entire 2nd half of the saga of Buddy Bradley from the pages of HATE Comics under the title BUDDY DOES JERSEY. It reprints all the feature stories from HATE #s 16-30, and serves as a sequel to the the recent collection entitled BUDDY DOES SEATTLE. These stories, originally printed in full color, appear in glorious black & white for the first time, the better to show off the work of my collaborator/inker Jim Blanchard in all of its crisp clear glory!

This marvelous 352-page package also features a 2 page comic strip introduction by Johnny Ryan of ANGRY YOUTH COMICS fame, as well as an introductory explainer by yours truly. It also retails for a measly $14.95, thus making it the greatest comic book buy of the millennium! So don't delay -- order today!

Oh, and for those of you in the Greater Seattle Metropolitan Area, both Jim Blanchard and I be signing copies of BDJ and anything at the Emerald Con (held at the Events Center next to Qwest Field) today from 5 - 7 pm. Late notice, I know, but be there anyway!
